Papers of Philander Chase, 1818-1819.

Typescript copy of a journal kept by Chase on the U.S.F. Guerriè€re containing descriptions of Copenhagen, Saint Petersburg, Sicily, English villages, and the English countryside, with comparisons of the various cities and their customs. The journal also includes descriptions of the antiquities of Pompeii and Herculaneum, and a discussion of naval discipline on the American frigate.
